The following are abbreviated minutes of the Wisconsin River Sportsmen's Club's meetings. Contact the club secretary for complete minutes.

July 1, 2010

  • Wild West Days work roster started.
  • Sporting clays and merchandise shoot will be held Aug. 1. Work rosters need to be completed.
  • Lake Marion project on hold. Dam is expected to be removed next year.

June 3, 2010

  • A representative of Charlie Troop 1/105 Cav and a family member of a deployed soldier attended the meeting to thank WRSC for money donated to troop families.
  • Second reading for Dave Boyer approved.
  • .22 rifle shoot to be held June 19 at 12:30 p.m. for WRSC members, families and friends. .22 magnum, .17 HMR, scoped and open, 50 yard.
  • Team 6 scheduled for club cleanup night, June 10, 5:30 p.m.
  • June 13 sporting clays/merchandise shoot details finalized.
  • UW-Madison Water Resources Management representatives attended meeting to provide overview of studies regarding Lake Marion and to invite members to a "Detailed Project Scope" meeting at Mazo Community Building at 6:30 p.m. on June 17.

May 6, 2010

  • First reading for Dave Boyer (Sponsor Tony H.)
  • Results of game feed and super raffle reported.
  • Winter league results: Don Severson (194), winner; lewis class winners: Cecil Roberts and Mel Dennison (192), Ric Hen (181), Cody Sailing and Terry Jahn (156).
  • June 5 work day beginning at 8 a.m. Painting, staining, roof work, etc.
  • Vote on new bylaws passed. Bylaws and Donation Committees officially disbanded.
  • Work schedule for June 13 sporting clays was discussed. Contact Roger Feldt to volunteer or with questions.
  • Family Fishing Day (May 8) events, sponsors and work schedule discussed.
  • Club shirt, hat, and/or jacket orders being taken now. See Ken Frank.
  • Discussed the possibility of a late-season sporting clays shoot.
  • Congratulations to Ric Henn, who was named Citizen of the Year for the Township of Mazomanie.

March 4, 2010

  • Bud Fries outlined Hunter Safety course; registration March 16.
  • Finalized Game Feed work roster.
  • Discussed June 19 .22 shootout and August 21 handgun shootout, both to begin at 1 p.m. for club members and family.
  • Reminder that Super Raffle Early Bird deadline is April 1. Super Raffle setup night is April 22, 6:30 p.m.
  • Donation Committee to meet on March 24; Bylaw Committee to meet on March 10; Fishing Day planning session (Rookies); all meetings begin at 6:30 p.m.
  • Members reminded to sign in EVERY time they use the range or clubhouse.

February 4, 2010

  • Discussed Fishing Day (May 8) options with Terry Frey. Also discussed DNR's proposed 5-year deer management plan. Members are encouraged to visit Wisconsin Hunters United.
  • Discussed Game Feed details. March 20; setup is noon to 1 p.m.; serving 4-6 pm; cost is $15
  • Bylaw committee to meet February 10 at 6:30 pm (contact Tom Vils for more info).
  • Reminder that Super Raffle Early Bird deadline is April 1.
  • Donation requests tabled until donation committee determines guidelines.
  • Hunter Safety tentatively scheduled week of March 29 (March 25 signup).

January 7, 2010

  • A committee has been formed to review donations. Cecil Roberts, Chair; Wally Hansen, Gerry Meicher, E.J. Weinberger, Larry Sailing, Tom Mabin and Tony Hagene.
  • Paddy Unmuth and Ben Behn will see if there is enough interest in holding a large-bore handgun shoot.
  • Game feed will be held March 20 at the Sandbar Sports Arena in Arena.Members are encouraged to donate game, which can be left with Bob Pailing or at Mazo Liquor. Raffle tickets will also be sold for a 30-06 rifle.
  • A bylaw committee will be meeting to review life membership and other bylaws. Tom Vils, Chair; Ralph Blum, Eric Mickelson, Cecil Roberts, Wally Hansen, Bob Pailing and Larry Hagen.

December 3, 2009

  • Three new members were accepted.
  • Still working on a date for the February game feed. Location is still planned in Arena.
  • Discussion focused proceeds from the 2009 Super Raffle dice game, slated to be donated to a military-related cause. Marlon Schoenemann will chair committee to recommend options.
  • Calendar of events for 2010 will be proposed at January meeting.
  • Officer election results: Bob Pailing, President; Cecil Roberts, Vice President; Larry Hagen, Secretary; Tom Mabin, Treasurer.

November 5, 2009

  • Reviewed the hosting of Cross Plains Veterans Memorial charity motorcycle ride and WRSC 50th anniversary open house in October.
  • Squirrel shoot rescheduled to November 14 (details on home page).
  • WRSC winter trap league and open shooting will begin on January 3, 2010.
  • Approved donations to District EMS and Annual WHHS fundraiser (Shoe Box).
  • Club holiday party scheduled for December 5. Club will provide ham and turkey. Members A-M to bring desserts; N-Z to bring salads.
  • Members are asked to review and update their membership information. See Joan.

September 3, 2009

  • Agreed to host a lunch for the Cross Plains Veterans Memorial charity motorcycle ride.
  • Discussed rules for October 3 Squirrel Shoot.
  • 11 members participated in the club championship shoot. Don Severson won with score of 49.
  • Committee was formed to work out details for the October 10 50th anniversary celebration

August 6, 2009

  • Discussed need for workers for August sporting clays and merchandise shoot on August 9. Cleanup will be held the morning of August 8. The annual club championship shoot will be held the afternoon of August 8 - 50-bird event.
  • Discussed cover for archery area.

July 2, 2009

  • Recognition to Cy and Angela Miele for club donation.
  • Workers are needed for August sporting clays and merchandise shoot on August 9. Cleanup will be held the morning of August 8. The annual club championship shoot will be held the afternoon of August 8 - 50-bird event.
  • Black Earth 4-H junior target/rounds/shell costs were discussed.

June 4, 2009

  • .22 shoot scheduled for June 6, 1-4 p.m. Members only with family or one friend.
  • Squirrel shoot scheduled for first weekend in October.
  • Club T-shirts and hats ($15), shorts ($18) available from Ken Frank.
  • Sporting clays set-up scheduled for June 6.
  • Discussion to establish budget committee to determine donation guidelines.
